Moose, Thy Name is Bullwinkle

Most of us of a certain age will recall Bullwinkle as an affable, lovable buffoon of a moose.  If you are little younger, you might recall the movie with Bullwinkle and his side-kick Rocky.  Given those parameters, if you received a phone call that went:

Help, I'm being chased by a Moose!  What should I do???

We'll get back to that...

I know that there are moose in other parts of the country, but I'm just not sure that there are as many moose living in an urban area as there are here.  Although moose appear to be rather comical, they are actually fairly mean-tempered.  Every year there are reports of moose attacks, and sometimes they are fatal.  A moose can and will, kick with both front and back feet.  They will also rear up on their hind legs and strike with their front legs, rather like a rearing horse.  But when they are just hanging out, they sure look mellow and goofy. Below I am sharing some moose pictures.  I can't take credit for any of them, but they are all from the internet, so I feel they are free to share.  To me, they illustrate why there is a little Bullwinkle in every moose.

On a recent trip to the local hospital (everyone is fine, no worries) Tara wanted to know why there was a sign posted indicating that there was a moose in the area and the automatic doors were turned off.  Tara was wondering why.  Check out the following YouTube clip and you'll find out.

But sometimes, a moose just has to have fun.

So what do you do if someone calls and says "Help!! I'm being followed by a Moose!"

Well, I missed Tara's call.  Steve's response was more of a BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Tara, apparently, walked up the sidewalk in the dark and surprised a moose.  She said he stomped his foot (never a good sign) and started towards her.  She turned around and a car that was driving by stopped and told her to "hurry up and get it in!! There's a moose after you!!"  Talk about timing!

So, what is the correct thing to do if Bullwinkle is pissed off and chasing you?  Usually, you try to put something between you and the moose, like a big tree.  That wouldn't of worked for Tara as she was in the middle of an intersection. So, what is the best thing to do?  According to Appalachian Mountain Club - RUN!!!

Yesterday, it was 4 degrees when I left the house.  But when this is the view on my way to work, I can't complain to much.

There are times when I wish it took longer then 10 minutes to drive to work.

Today, I took Rosey and Riley down to Kinkaid Park for a walk.  For those of you in need of your winter time-snow-fix, check out the following photos.  It's about 35 degrees out today - and there's a whole lot of melting going on.  But not in the park.

Please note how the snow is about level with the seat
There is a little squirrel in this picture, but he's pretty hard to see.  He was quite vocal about having to share his woods.
The drive back home

Until next week!  Watch out for BullWinkle!
